EBR M14
So my brother in law is looking for a EBR M14 but does not want to spend $1200. Does anyone have any productive and or helpful advice regarding the Kart or Echo 1 versions??

It's an acm so finish won't be as good as others. It's awfully heavy compared to the TGS model it's based on. Is that the kind of help you were looking for?

The finish isn't as well, as freq stated. The echo1 is lots heavier than the conversion kit and the echo 1 logo on upper receiver quite visible and large. As with performance, its base on personal experience. If you want Tokyo Mauri performance, the ver 7 gearbox can be placed into the Kart body with a little modification with a dremel. However its may break into pieces, though due fact it is made of pot metal, with heavy heavy usage. Using TM internals in Kart body is a cheaper way to obtain an EBR with solid performance. Hope that was somewhat helpful.

I wasn't impressed at all when I held the ACM version. I liked the fit and finish of the TGS & G&P versions but was not too enthusiastic about having a huge hole where the heatshields are. I know it's for the batteries but not digg'n no matter.

No doubt about it, the damthings are pricey.

It costs whatever it costs, and the gearboxes don't accept TM or TM design parts. Like Guarder.

Airsoft by day, Guitar shredder by night ;)
Could have been a different brand? I've been told by quite a few recently they are not compatible.

negitive, the guys said its 100% compitable. (this is from the santa clara aex)
So basically the only way to get a good functioning EBR M14 is to purchase the G&P EBR MK14 MOD 1 Conversion Kit. And buy a used M14 and to save a little money and put it all together?????

I'm debating which kit to buy. Leaning toward the TGS kit as the new G&P's are just too dam much $$$.

The newer G&P Mod 1 kit is different than the Kart EBR kit all together. Take a look at what it comes with on AEX's website and you'll see that it's actually competitively priced when you see what you're getting. Not to mention the G&P kit is CnC'd.

That is a sexy M14. If I had the cash I would be down to building one of those.
