is it necessary? i remember back when i played paintball i had to clean my gun every now and then. now since im not shooting paint, do i still not have to clean my gun?
yes.
you can pay for school but you cant buy class
Even though your not shooting paint out, there are still stuff getting in the weapon. Dirt and such. Its always a good idea to clean anything that you shoot wether its Real, paintball, or airsoft. I clean mine after each weekend of games too be safe. I might be overly impulsive but its safe and I havent had any problems with my weapons.

How do you guys go about cleaning your airsoft guns?
Gun control is not Crime control.
well i remove the barrel from my hopup and swipe that a few times with a dap of silcone and a small peice of rag that attaches to the cleaning rod. then i wipe down till i pull out a clean cloth. then i clean the cylinder and cylinder head. and put a few dabs on that, then i put one or two dabs on my trigger box

I steam wash mine, unless of course you want to think about your aeg as a firearm rather than a paintball gun/toy then it'll make sense what needs to be cleaned/maintained.
