cleaning guns

is it necessary? i remember back when i played paintball i had to clean my gun every now and then. now since im not shooting paint, do i still not have to clean my gun?

Even though your not shooting paint out, there are still stuff getting in the weapon. Dirt and such. Its always a good idea to clean anything that you shoot wether its Real, paintball, or airsoft. I clean mine after each weekend of games too be safe. I might be overly impulsive but its safe and I havent had any problems with my weapons.

How do you guys go about cleaning your airsoft guns?

well i remove the barrel from my hopup and swipe that a few times with a dap of silcone and a small peice of rag that attaches to the cleaning rod. then i wipe down till i pull out a clean cloth. then i clean the cylinder and cylinder head. and put a few dabs on that, then i put one or two dabs on my trigger box

I steam wash mine, unless of course you want to think about your aeg as a firearm rather than a paintball gun/toy then it'll make sense what needs to be cleaned/maintained.
