To transfer the tape to your computer, youll need a USB cord of some sort, check on your camera for what type of plug it is, plug it in and transfer it on.
bunch of guys I work with use Sony DV video cameras for professional editing. I've also had some experence with it as well. Normaly, you'd use the camera as the tape player, and a program such as Final Cut, Premier, or some other video editing software to be the recorder. The cables are normally Firewire. however there are some cameras that only offer a RCA connection. With that, you'll need a video editing card for your PC.

You will need to capture the tape footage using either firewire or analog capture card.
I have always acted in self defense, occasionally pre-emptive self defense.
Tapes are normaly for high-end stuff, as you typically get better quality.

Then it's the quality settings you have on the camera. Most likely they're on the lowest setting at the smallest resolution. It probably does this because of the small capasity memory card in the system.
if you posted the model of the cam, we would be able to tell you what to do.

xposion has it down. I used to do that stuff, I used a mac with an external hard drive like 300 gigs and it had to be cleared every few movies lol.
