I haven't owned real steel since there has been so many restrictions put on them in California. Now that I got the itch back, I'm looking to buy a good hunting rifle in a 308. The point is that I can't find a decent site through california of people selling through classifieds. I'm not looking for a new rifle. I'm just trying to buy a good used one without breaking my bank book.

I am a big fan of the Reminton 700 action. a lot of gunmakers are using it now. The Weatherby Vanguard subMOAs are based on a 700 action as are the HOWAS 1500s.

the gun show at cal expo is an excellent place to look around and hold weapons, ask questions, etc.

+1 on stainless....my new Weatherby Vanguard sub MOA,in .300wsm with a fluted bolt is stainless with a mcmillian stock. bullet proof finish,and it looks sexy as hell.lepupold dove tail mounts in stainless with a nikon monarch 4-10x50 in silver...with a nice black mcmillian stock. Impervious to Colorado weather....
