I've had this happen to me on three or for occasions... only after it was shimmed properly did the problem stop.

It's not surprising. Your battery might work and have enough juice for a well shimmed gun firing at 300 fps with a good motor, but the same battery does not work when you are putting it in a poorly shimmed 400 fps gun with a crappy motor.
