Is there a way I can take a hard drive from one computer and transfer files from that hard drive to another computer without using the obvious of external HDs, shared networks or stick drives?

you can pull the drive, and put it onto a "sled". The Sled should contain one USB and/or one Firewire to connect to another computer. The new computer will see the other HD thats on the sled as a external, and allow you to transfer. The sled should be available at Frys, though I dunno how much.

If you're trying to transfer the programs from one HD to another you will have to copy over ALL of the files that get loaded during installation. Simply copying over the Photoshop and Illustrator folders from your 'program files' directory won't work.

IF you would like to transfer your entire hard drive to another, keeping your windows installation intact so you just plug in your new hard drive and boot it up and you're good to go, then you need a program that does a 1:1 copy of all data on your old HD to your new one. A popular one is norton ghost:
Science, it works.

try the enclosure again but this time right click on "my computer" select manage, then go to disk management
