Eyewear

Apr 7, 2008 6:10am
I have wondered for some time why shooting glasses are considered adequate eye protection for airsoft. They provide no seal with the eye socket leaving gaps that can be exploited by errant bbs . To make matters worse they lack a strap to keep them securely in place on ones head. While I can see how this would be good enough for target shooting but at a game? I would like to hear what you guys have to say in favor using them reguards to safety. I understand its cheap, easy, comfy....but come on guys...this is our eyes we are talking about here.

I do not agree about eyewear. While larger groupd and feilds have this as their mainline for insurance purposes, untill we are a full bodied organization, i feel we ahve no buiessness enforeing this rule. DO i think full seal goggles are important, absolutly, do i feel we should make adults on public land, who take responsablity for thier own actions, playing a game wear them NO. I think we hsould do spot checks on the glass as i have seen people wearing regular sunglasses out there, but i do not feel we shoudl enfore a "sealed goggle" rule. Maybe if the person playing is under 18 but that woud still be thiers or the parents choice. Sacair is not a sueable entity and should stay that way. We do not need to police eyeware except for the basics. Whats next bio only bb's?

I see where you are coming from but we have now started to limit our rules to make up for this "personal choice". In my mind the only reason I would not allow FA with pistols is the risk it brings to non sealed eyewear users.

fa under 25 feet isn't just about eyeware, if you are on semi auto and some one jumps out of the bush you being on semi will only hit him 1 maybe 2 times before your mind catches up with your adrenalin, on FA you could empty your whole mag on a guy before you even knew you hit him... eyewear isn't the only or main issue with it, or you would be able to FA at all the major pay to play fields. Hell even CQB City in stock is semi auto for all weapons just based on that principle..

on principal of what exactly? we are talking about AEPs and gas SMGs here, not upgraded AEGs. its not going to cause any worse welts than catching a burst from the upgraded AEG that shooting at you from 10 ft beyond it.

so just becuase a gun only shoots 250ish you dont think thats hurts getitng hit 30 times? you dont think people will get mad? you think eyes are the only issues? what about ears? noses? teeth, lips cheeks balls boobs etc..

side shields, yes, full seal = good idea, but not mandatory.
Seek the Narrow Gate, for the path is broad and the gate is wide that leads to destruction.

i agree completly about the eyeglasses thing. I have a kid who comes with me who wears them, and i got goggles just for him to use with his glasses.

It should simply be put to vote, given blain-os input I would say the measure in question would look like this
Apr 7, 2008 7:14pm
lol and how many thousand of scrathes on you from jumping in and out of berrie bushes? huh blain? heh
Apr 7, 2008 7:21pm
i think thats fine, however much discussion should be made on
Apr 7, 2008 7:26pm
I think the minimum should be rated glass and less then 6mm of gap between the frame and face at all points. Side screens I would say l just constitute frame sides thick enough to meet the gap spec.
Apr 7, 2008 7:42pm
i find that reasonable, hard to inforce but reasonable :)

Agree with Andrew. Full seal MANDATORY for under 18 with a strong recommendation of full facemasks.
