Gearbox > High Pitch Sound

Apr 9, 2008 5:56am
So I threw a systema m100 and metal bushings into an otherwise stock TM m4a1 today. I've been inside gearboxes before but I've never shimmed one, so I thought I'd give it a go. I did it just like all the guides/ hints on the internet and I must have re-checked it a million times. not too tight, but not too loose. After the upgrade the mechbox sounds the same.. but at a higher pitch, almost like its whining.

what brand bushings did you get? if its the CA ones, those will make a very high pitched noise as they are larger than the holes in stock tm gbs yet smaller than the shafts of stock tm gears. i would recommend guarder bushings.

I went w/ Airsoft Elite bushings, which probably wasn't the wisest decision.

well one thing i do is when i do shim jobs is after shimming i put the pistol grip back on and in the GB have the electrical parts only and run the motor a few times and thats how i was able to minimize the gear sounds in my GB.
