Shipping a airsoft gun

Most shipping companies prefer that you wrap the item, or at the very least, put it in a box. Simply placing postage on the stock of the gun is usually discouraged.
I have always acted in self defense, occasionally pre-emptive self defense.

I plan on shipping my gun in a trade, tell me if this is a good plan because I have never done this before.
