Solid Aluminum Mechboxes - Do they really exist?

Mar 1, 2005 5:40am
Hi all. Has anyone heard of mechboxes machined out of solid aluminum? I want my TM G3 SG1 to shoot 550fps (w/ .20 BB) but i dont think that is possible with a typical cast metal mechbox. Any ideas? Dont be too cruel, I am new to the Sacairsoft forum

aluminum is good enough, especially for the price of what we usually want to pay.
PGC?
PGC.....These gear boxes are the only ones on the Earth made from Billet Aluminum 6061 T6. wurd Stan! **Edit** Oh and the PGC GB is only made for TOP M249's.

wow 6061 T6 is strong stuff --- 310MPa on the easy side.

Wow, those numbers are cool sounding, but what do they mean? What tensile i would need?

so...are those values for tensile strength or ductile strength?
Seek the Narrow Gate, for the path is broad and the gate is wide that leads to destruction.

I use 6160 in my training knives. It's a pain to work with, even using a grinder and cutting disk.

So it sounds like no one has ever seen a mechbox that was milled out of solid aluminum.
