First AEG advice

Dec 19, 2004 6:14am
I'm thinking of getting a CA M15 A4 RIS or Carbine. This will be my first gun and I don't won't plastic or crappy barrel wobble that the TM M4 has, but I definitely want an M4. I'm 14 and don't have a job (yet), so money is tight and my maximum budget is around $400 but I'd like to spend less than that. Thanks for any help that I get.

a lot of people use TM M4s including my self and they work just fine. the plastic body doesn't mean there "crappy" just makes them lighter. TM guns are great and i have never had a problem with them. plus, if you only have about 400 to spend you can get an CA or ICS gun and the battery but thats it. i think some one is selling a CA with an M203 on sacair for 400 if your that crazy for an ICS/CA typ of gun.

The biggest problem with a TM M16 variant is that you will almost certainly break the two tabs at the back of the upper reciever. When that happens you will either have to order a stock upper to replace it, or buy a 200 some odd dollar metal body. Personally I would rather spend a couple of extra dollars to begin with and get the metal body right off, plus a more highly upgraded mech box.

My main problem with the TM M4 is the barrel wobble and the stock power. And also plastic doesn't seem very durable.

thats why you get the G & G series. metal everything with TM reliability.

G and G costs too much, man. I don't want to spend a lot of money so that I have some to buy accessories and gear.

I hated my TM m4a1... As soon as I got it. I brought it home put a 3point sling on it, and pop... The barrel instantly wobbled... Then after I had the Systema FTK installed, the staller broke the reciever pins  and I had reciever wobble to go along with my barrel wobble. After that a friend of mine, broke the other reciever pin, so I just pulled the good parts out of it, and sold it.

I don't trust anything but TM's.

i think tm would be the best for a beginner. if wobble and stability give you a problem then you can always upgrade at a later date, meaning that you can wait until you have enough money for an aftermarket metal body or reinforced barrel which are growing increasingly more affordable. fit and build quality of a tm will be way above anything you get on a CA (dunno about the ICS cause I've never handled one)...they just aren't as solid (ie you can't bash them into a rock and expect them to be ok).

Are the G and P guns reliable. Are the handguards and stock metal too? Do you know of any places that sell them in the states, I don't like too shop overseas.

You want a good first gun that's sturdy and can hold a lot of power? Get yourself an AK-47. (Or anything else with a V3 or V6 gearbox.) The gun should run you about $260-280, and you can upgrade it with an M120 spring and bushings for around another $25-30. A DTP mettle body for an AK (like the one that Monkeyrra, Cain and I have), can be had for $55 from Airsoftshop.com. It takes a large battery, can take a lot of power upgrades, holds a lot of ammo and, in stock trim, is extremely sturdy. The gearbox can be accessed with the removal of 7 screws and one plug.

yeah, Ak's are the $hit. Owned a beta, and now i got my beast of an AK right now. Probobly get another one after my AUG, something with a high rof and a gp-30, METTLE body.

Or another great beginner gun is the MP5a4. It is great for CQB, and it has the large stock for a large battery.
Dec 20, 2004 3:38am
Yea but mp5s, have those small girly grips :D
