Oakley, ANSI Z87.1, good for what now?
Well I know a few people here roll with Oakleys on the field, and like it says in the manual, its ANSI Z87.1 rated. Well that sounds good but if im going to use them on the field they should be able to take a random springer pistol from 10ft away at least.

Hmmm thats weird. A while ago at CQB City I got shot almost point blank to the face from a AEG (probably rollin somewhere around 400 FPS) and it just made a little dent in my Oakley M-Frames.

I roll with Oakley's, but the pair I own have not been in combat yet.

I heard somewhere that only the polarized lenses are the ones that are ANSI rated. This is only something I have heard, so dont take my word for it.
My uncle help design technology Oakley uses (thus the rumors that only polarized one are ANSI rated, may be true), he said that in extremes it may not perform the same in control situation and every now and then there are a pair which is just a bad pair. Thank goodness you have a receipt. I try not to roll with my Oakley, prototypes during the time of production and I don't want to risk my eyes.

Oh sweet. I'm gonna be getting them through the Oakley SI website.
I've had the oakly Fives 2.0 for probably 2.5 years now. Been hit right in the lens many times. I trust my eyes to them.

M Frames = eyesavers; we got RFI'ed a set each before my first deployment and they saved my right eye from being eh forcably removed by a small piece of rock from when i got hit by one of them little presents they like to bury/hide in the road. +1000000 for oakleys

tempering occurs on the front, from the back, or middle to both sides of glass, plastic, etc.
Wraith: Good to know. Though they obviously weren't up to par with Andrew's, Medic's, Marti's and Monkey's if you compare their accounts to mine. And I shot them from the front but the back was the only way to get a good pic of it.

All oakelys are ANSI Z87.1 rated polorized or not. I have a pair of SI half jackets that are not polarized and they are ANSI rated
I was thinking about picking up a pair of GasCans. However where I regularly play (Fort Ord), they wouldn't be allowed. I Currently run with a pair of Peltors 2x2s. Never taken a round to the, but they've become both my gaming glasses and for driving.
I have been playing with a pair of juliets for a year and a pair of twenty XX's for two years befor that. Both have recieved multiple impacts, and neither had any resulting damage. Some of these impacts were from very close. I trust my eyes to them.
