There is plenty of poison oak in Califormia.

Another common confusion that i've been arguing with people about since i was 5 is POISON IVY DOESNT GROW IN CALIFORNIA. "It grows throughout much of North America, including all Canadian provinces except Newfoundland (but not the Territories) and all U.S. states except Alaska, Hawaiâi, and California" - wikipedia

are you serious, poisen sumac is in CA. i have gotten it, its not as common as back east but its here. you know when you get it because you get itchy bumps that form lined rather than blotches.
Muahaha I can go rolling in poison oak with no ill effects :D

Yeah, Allergies are reactive over time/exposure, you can't be "Immune"

Ok so here's my story and some help for people who are allergic like myself and wraith.

BTW, brown recluse spiders DO occur in CA, particularly in the Southeastern desert areas and the hih desert reast of the southern Sierras.

Thats odd, unless there is a bit of water in the middle of that field and on top of grizzly peak, because sumac needs a lot of water to grow.

So apparently there is another type of poison ivy "western poison ivy" http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=TORY that is not the poison ivy people refer to when they say "poison ivy" and its far less common although it does grow in every state, except ours, which i find hard to believe. And as I said earlier, i was wrong in saying up top in this thread that poison sumac lives here

I found this stuff at Sportsmen's Warehouse called ivy block, it seems to work really good. It's just this lotion that you put on your exposed skin and it keeps the oil from the poison oak from bonding to your skin. I have a friend who gets so sick from poison oak he'd had to go the the ER. He swells up so bad it causes him trouble breathing when he gets it. He used the ivy block last time we played airsoft and he trip and face planted into a large patch of posion oak. He didn't get it at all. The stuff works good.
