I'm sure alot of you have already heard about this but for the ones that haven't here it is.
RIP. Truly impossible to comprehend the sacrifice he made.

i have no words to explain how i felt when i read that. he made the ultimate sacrifice for me, you, and even your granma. everyone always bags on the other branches of the military, for example if you were in the marines you would say the army's gay but this goes to show that in the end alll the branches are all trying to acheive a common goal. i sooo greatly respect that man its unbelivable. i would have given anything to shake his hand just once. i couldnt imagine what would be going through my mind in his position, but if i would have had time to think, i wouldve done the same thing...honestley i wouldve. this just inspires me more to join the military.

condolences to his family and friends. Very honorable young man. I am in his regiment, our battalion changed over to his in april.
i have alot of buddies who were in 1/26 over in Schwienfurt and after talking to the ones who knew him, to be honest i am not suprised by what he did, all of his friends spoke of him with reverence and said that they knew that he would take a bullet for anyone in his unit and unfortunatly he had to pay the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the mission was accomplished with minimal loss of life even if it had to be his own. You will be missed.

I didn't look at this link, but watching this one the news last night I was very impressed with what his father said. Instead of being angery and bitter about the fact he lost his son, he said he did the right thing when the time came. I thought that was very impressive and worth noting. Very brave young man, we all owe him (and everyone serving) a lot of thanks.

I remember seeing this story on CQB City's wall, had me thinking the rest of the day.
I'm just in awe whenever i read why a M.O.H. was given to someone. It's amazing that he would do something like that without even thinking twice, just to save his comrades.
Future Loadout???
have you heard of the guy that was burned badly in iraq from a road side bomb like 5 years ago...well he died this year before memorial day at age 23 i think
A greater sacrifice cannot be made indeed. I've trained so many Infantry soldier's for Iraq and Afghanistan that the names and the faces all look the same but if I for one second stood in this soldier's presence while he was on Sand Hill, I am better soldier/DS because of it. I hear of so many sacrifices soldiers make for one another that it amazes me as well that more soldiers haven't been given the distinguished MOH. None the less I am very proud to serve with all branches and ranks of the Armed Forces.
