that's what i thought until i got guns from other people where it looked like they had removed the orange instead of covering it but if push comes to shove then i will do that.

DE: take off the slide with the orange. Get a small cup that is tall and skinny. Fill it with enough rubbing alcohol to cover the orange on the slide. Leave the slide in the rubbing alcohol for about 15 minutes. Pull it out, and gently rub away the orange. If it is hard, dont force it. Put it back into the alcohol for another 20 minutes and try again.

Dom suggested some great techniques but it seems like all you guys want to do is rush rush rush to get the orange off. I'd listen to him if i were you.
or you could buy your gun off ebay from someone who is in japan and you get your gun with a black tip and no hot knife marks on it

i got mine from a guy down in sandiego who got it from japan and painted it,and i didnt have any problems with it
