Sounds like a good idea. I would put a new motor and a couple of other things before upgrading it too much. Hope that helps.

I have one of the gamepod field ready s systems and its been working awesome with no issues, they're basicall exactly what you mention a JG that has been tweeked with good internals, I do recommend changing the motor like Maverick1 mentioned, the stock one is ok and will get the job done but the rate of fire is about 13 or 14 with a m120 and an 8.4v, I did the G&P 160 and a 9.6 and its doing over 20 a second now.

don't buy it from gamepod. They mark up their clones by 20-40%. AGM m14 for $160, i found it online for $99-120!
